“A Winter’s Season” was a personal photography project on my Men’s Ice Hockey team here in Texas.
One of the obstacles to the project was that I play defense on our team, and so the challenge was set. To capture the project I used 1960’s era Kodak Brownie Hawkeye cameras, with mostly Kodak Tri-X black & white film. While playing, I wear a full cage face and eye protection, so the decision to use these old film cameras made it easy for me to shoot without holding the camera to my eye and focusing.
Over 30 games and 7 months, a lot of up’s and downs were captured of our time spent together as The Angry Biscuits. The momentary escape that ice hockey provides us is priceless.
Oh, and the opportunity to hit someone after a tough day is cool too.
